MIKE Solomon and Gill Hunt were the big winners as Bridport Bowling Club held their finals weekend.

The Veterans’ Trophy was Hunt’s first victory this time against Steve Bartlett and Mike Solomon’s first win was in the two-wood singles against Bill Duthie-Jones.

Saturday saw three games in the morning and afternoon.

The ladies’ handicapped singles was a nail-biter with Marion Carter victorious against Hunt 21-20.

The ladies’ drawn triples was won by Joan Smith, Pamela Daters and Delphine Street versus Margaret Strange, Sheila Jones and Lyn Craddock.

The men’s drawn triples saw a good win for Craig Bosher, Fred Pomeroy and Peter Carnell versus Solomon, Dave Robbins and Bill Duthie-Jones.

The Ladies’ Drawn Pairs saw Cheryl Mackenzie and Jill Willcox victorious against Trish Field and Frances Hewett.

Another very close game was the mixed pair of Hunt and Solomon versus Alison and Paul Tibble with a final score of 18-17 to the former.

The Men’s Championship Pairs saw Bob Willcox and Mike Craddock victorious over Bob Taylor and Mike Smith 21-17.

The Ladies’ Championship Pairs saw Marion Carter and Hunt were victorious against Pat Cornick and Laura Taylor.

The Men’s Handicapped singles was an extremely long game with Ben Jones finally winning against Mike Craddock.

The Junior Cup was also close with Steve Bartlett beating Duthie-Jones.

The single sets match went down to the wire with Frances Hewett and Solomon both winning a set so there had to be a three-end shoot-out seeing Solomon pip Hewett to the prize.

The afternoon session saw Barry Shortland beat Taylor in the Men’s Championship Singles.

The Ladies’ Championship Singles saw a reverse of fortunes with Cornick victorious against Hunt.

A very close ladies’ two-wood singles was contested by Alison Tibble and Hewett with Tibble winning 15-13 after the full 21

ends.

The last game to complete was the Men’s Drawn Pairs with Solomon and Michael Higman beating Willcox and Bob Johnson.
