DORCHESTER Town manager Callum Brooks admits the Magpies must cure their slow-starting ailment after Hayes & Yeading took a 3-2 victory from their BetVictor Southern Premier South clash at the Clayson Stadium.
Brooks’ troops were 3-0 down in 22 minutes as a Jacob Cook piledriver and a James Clark brace capitalised on some slack Dorchester defending.
To their credit, the Magpies replied with two quick-fire Tom Bath goals but again found the task insurmountable in a match that mirrored the 3-2 home defeat to Hartley Wintney earlier this month.
Brooks told Echosport: “Nick Hutchings (goalkeeper) bar the three goals hasn’t made a save all night.
“We’ve got two men down for the first goal which could’ve affected pressure on the ball but they go in once in I don’t know how many at this level.
“He’s hit a worldie and we find ourselves 1-0 down. A lot seems to have gone like that. When anyone shoots at our goal it’s flown in.
“Without seeing the video it’s very difficult for me to pick the bones out of the goals.
“I thought other than the first 20 minute we were alright, to be honest.
“It’s a really disappointing way to start the game. Of course I’m concerned.
“It’s embarrassing, the players feel it and we feel it.
“It’s the last thing you turn up and expect to happens.
“Slow starts have been frequent and it’s down to us to work harder to prevent it from continuing.”
