DORSET Junior Ladies have won the South West Junior Inter-Counties competition for the second year running,.
In addition to Dorset, the counties which took part held were Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire, all of whom played some excellent golf which belied their youth at Dudsbury Golf Club.
The maximum handicap allowed was 24 which caused some problems for the Dorset girls as their team’s highest handicap was only 10.
One of the girls had to give 13 shots in a round and still only lost on the 18th.
With all the Dorset girls playing to a high standard it does Weymouth Golf Club’s Molly Kington much credit to have been seen to have played particularly well.
She won 5-4 against Cornwall, halved her match with team-mate Meg Withnall against Wiltshire, won 4-3 against Devon and triumphed seven and six against Somerset and Cornwall on the final day.
Kington reportedly won all her single matches in ‘amazing style’ giving her a score for the weekend of 4.5 out of five.
Having this year won the EZGO Junior Tour Championship for the second time and the Dudsbury Junior Open, 18-year-old Molly moves to seniors’ golf next year.
Dorset: Chloe Haesler, Meg Withnall, Molly Kington, Lauren Purchase (captain), Chloe Northover, Hermione Christey-Clove, Ellie Mans, Scarlett Williams and Alex Cornell
