HUSBAND and wife racing duo Shaun and Sarah Fudge have dominated the race season at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb, Salisbury for the second year in a row.

Detachment Commander of Lytchett and Upton, Dorset Army Cadet Force, Sergeant Instructor Shaun and his non-uniformed volunteer wife Sarah, racing in a Subaru Impreza, took the outright class win while Sarah finished second in class.

It was a hard-fought battle against some fierce and fast machinery but the Subaru Impreza drivers overcame them all and all while advertising the Army Cadet Force.

Both are involved with running the successful Lytchett and Upton ACF Detachment which parades twice a week on Monday and Thursday evenings offering young people in the area a chance to undertake a range of military themed activities to build confidence, resilience and leadership skills.

SI Shaun Fudge said: “We believe that this is the first race car ever to have the Army Cadet Force logo prominently displayed on the side of it, helping us promote and support the ACF wherever it races.

“It’s great being able to combine my love of motorsport whilst at the same time advertising the ACF to all that come to watch the races.”

The couple have been racing competitively together for the past 12 years but this is just the most recent victory in a racing career which started for him aged 14 – racing hot rods and then karts before moving to rally cross.

With winter upgrades to the car already planned the couple are hoping that 2020 will be the year they get their hat-trick.
