WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley feels loan pair Callum Buckley and Mark Childs “stood out” for temporary club Hayes & Yeading during their 3-2 win over Dorchester Town on Tuesday.
Buckley and Childs joined United on one-month loan deals to top up their match minutes earlier in September and have impressed during their stints with the BetVictor Southern Premier South club.
Buckley was positioned at left-back against Dorchester and made a number of interceptions and clearances as the Magpies poured forward in search of a late equaliser.
Meanwhile, Childs made an outstanding flying stop to tip over a 94th-minute scorcher from centre-back Callum Rose as the Magpies were kept at bay by the duo.
Molesley highlighted the benefits of the loan spell for both players.
He said: “They’ve both been doing well. Their performances have been positive and they’re keeping their match fitness up so when they’re called upon they’re ready for us.
“We’ve got probably the largest squad we’ve ever had and it’s about keeping them in tip-top condition. We’re going to be utilising that loan market to do that sometimes.”
Expanding on the duo’s performance against Dorchester, Molesley believes both players were in eye-catching form. “I was impressed with both of them,” he said. “I thought they stood out – I was pleased with both of them. I’m glad they got another 90 minutes under their belt, and a win, so it was a positive night for them, that’s for sure.”
