DORCHESTER Town manager Callum Brooks believes there is a “huge expectancy” on Tiverton Town going into their BetVictor Southern Premier South clash at Ladysmead tomorrow (3pm).

Brooks has upped the pressure on Tivvy, who have enjoyed a spectacular start to a season in which they are currently the top scorers in Step One to Four football with 29, one ahead of National League South leaders Wealdstone.

Devon side Tiverton also thumped Farnborough 7-0 away in their previous league outing, maintaining their position of third just two points off leaders Poole.

Dorchester’s form differs wildly, with just one victory in five games – a 1-0 triumph at Wimborne in the Southern League Challenge Cup first round on Tuesday.

However, the Magpies delivered arguably their finest performance of last season in a 6-0 thrashing of the Yellows in April.

Brooks described the encounter as a “tricky test”.

He said: “It’s a game where people won’t give us much of a chance. I think people will be thinking ‘oh, they’ll go up there and get beaten’.

“There’ll be a huge expectancy on Tiverton after the result they’ve had, whereas we know we’re progressing nicely, we know what we’re about with the work going on behind the scenes.

“At some point it’ll be turning into points in the league and taking points off what you would deem the better sides in the league.

“No doubt, it’s a tricky test but we’ve got nothing to lose and we’ll go up there with a good gameplan.

“If the players execute that and show the desire they have over the last couple of games I’m sure we’ll be right in that one – I back us to get a result.”

Tom Purrington (ankle) could return but Tom Blair (foot) is rated as “50/50” by Brooks.

Magpies’ duo Tiago Sa (calf) and Luke Winsper (foot) are doubtful.
