WEYMOUTH & Portland coach Rich Bament is “confident but wary” of Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts One South basement boys Lytchett Minster ahead of their meeting at Monmouth Avenue tomorrow (3pm).

Bament’s men have performed solidly to date, taking two wins from their opening three games to claim fifth in the standings.

And Bament stressed the Seahorses would not be underestimating their opponents, who currently have minus four points.

He told Echosport: “I’m confident but very wary of them, you just don’t know what to expect.

“I’ve come across them before and they’ve had some good players who can turn it on its head and score from anywhere, so we’ll have to go about our normal business with a bit more efficiency.”

Weymouth and Portland lost 36-19 to Dorset Dockers last time out and Bament is keen to return to form at home.

He said: “If you can bank on good home form you’ll be doing well.

“I’d like to think we’ll win and win comfortably given the positions, but you never know.

“Dave Oaksford (knee) is having surgery next week.

“He’s targeting the Dorchester game (in November) to be back because it’s just keyhole.

“Luke Benyon should be returning this week but unfortunately Matt Savage’s hamstring went after 60 minutes.”

Scrum-half Lewis Allan (shoulder) also misses out with Benyon likely to fill in at full-back.
