THE long trip to Frome was to prove a fruitless afternoon for the Seasiders who were forced to make no fewer than eight changes to personnel and position ahead of the clash.

A disjointed and uncharacteristically disorganised Weymouth side failed to muster a single score against a well-drilled and physical Frome outfit.

The away side though, started in sprightly fashion, driving and offloading well in the tackle but constantly thwarted by a resolute home defence.

After weathering the initial storm the hosts began to dominate in the set-piece putting the Weymouth line-out under constant pressure.

A good supply of clean ball saw Frome's back line constantly on the attack through their big physical centres. This was to prove a major problem for the visitors for the entire first half as Frome's big men poured through the gaps left by a makeshift Weymouth defence.

A huge defeat looked on the cards given the 20-0 half-time score, fortunately this Weymouth side is made of stern stuff and began to play with heart and commitment.

The charge was spearheaded by Gordon Tye, Weymouth's pocket battleship, who stood his ground at scrum-half containing the rampaging Frome back row.

Tye's commitment in defence, and the constant darting breaks around the fringes, galvanised the visitors into a much-improved second period.

WEYMOUTH Seconds skipper Jonny Beare was disappointed with his side's 15-3 defeat at the hands of East Dorset in Dorset & Wilts Three South.

The Seasiders were short of several regular key players for the clash after some had been called up to bolster the first team.

The make-shift side battled well and dominated for long periods.

Nathan Allen continued his impressive record of scoring in every game since Christmas last year with a well-taken effort while Matty Lockley deservedly earned man of the match for his first performance as hooker.

Although it was a close fought game East Dorset took advantage of their opportunities and scored three tries, but they were unable to convert any.
