WEYMOUTH’S ‘never say die’ attitude is massively important with such a quick turnaround of fixtures, says assistant manager, Tom Prodomo.

The Terras travel to Billericay on Saturday in the MANarama National League South (3pm) after drawing 1-1 away to Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday night.

Assistant manager Prodomo told Echosport: “I think the attitude is massively important.

“If you look at the challenges the club has each week with the nature of being part time at a high level of non-league football and the sacrifices the players make. The attitude is all about the players giving everything in training and looking at their feedback and analysis.”

Speaking about the quick turnaround of fixtures, Prodomo said: “It’s difficult but we have got a really good group of staff who go above and beyond. We try to remove any excuses that the players might be able to turn to, but they don’t ever look to them to be fair.

“We had the players in on Thursday to regroup after a long away trip on Tuesday and prepare for another long trip tomorrow.”

“We are preparing the same as we would for any game.We watched Billericay a few times and have analysed the footage. We have a clear idea of how to impose our game plan. Without going into too much detail, we know they have good players and are very experienced at this level. They have picked up good results lately which breeds confidence.

“Which could be the most dangerous thing in any level of football, but we are clear about what needs to be done.” Continues on page 45

Weymouth moved into the top three after their point at Eastbourne Borough and go into their fixture with Billericay as favourites as their opponents lie in 11th.

The Terras played for 20 minutes with ten men and showed great character to comeback to salvage a point despite the disadvantage.

Skipper Jake McCarthy equalised for Weymouth from the penalty spot, despite missing a spot-kick earlier on.

The management team said they were pleased with the mental strength of their team.

Tom Prodomo went on to say there is no new injury news and Josh McQuoid is continuing his return to full fitness.

Brett Williams was sent off at Eastbourne so The Terras will be without him.
