PORTLAND United teenager Bailey Rowe spoke of the “buzz” after scoring his first international goal for the British Virgin Islands.

Rowe scored in first-half stoppage-time to equalise for his nation against Bonaire in the CONCACAF Nations League C.

Rowe’s side went 3-1 up in the 84th minute when Jerry Wiltshire struck, before Bonaire wmade it 3-2 on 88 minutes. The BVI then dramatically conceded a 93rd-minute own goal and a 95th-minute winner to Jurven Koffy.

The result, added to a 3-0 loss to the Bahamas yesterday, put qualification out of reach for the BVI.

Speaking to Echosport, Rowe said: “We went 3-1 up and I came off in the 85th minute, then we conceded those goals.

“But (the goal) was a really good buzz, seeing all your teammates so proud of you, especially at this young age. It felt really good.

“I’m still trying to learn off the senior players so hopefully if I’m still in the team I’ll become more experienced. Hopefully we can win a few more games.”

Prior to Rowe’s heartbreaking loss against Bonaire – part of the Dutch Caribbean – the striker played in a 4-0 loss to the Bahamas.
