CHARLIE Davis has sealed an exit from Dorchester Town to rejoin Gosport Borough.

Midfielder Davis, a former Gosport captain and Weymouth player, has struggled to cement his place in the Magpies' side following a succession of hamstring injuries this season.

Dorchester were again forced into terminating a contract early after former skipper Dan Strugnell ended his two-year deal just five months into his stay, also signing for Boro.

Davis had penned a one-year agreement in May to embark on his third spell at the Clayson Stadium.

In a brief statement on the Magpies' official website, Dorchester announced the decision had been taken mutually.

It read: "Dorchester Town Football Club can confirm that Charlie Davis has left the club by mutual consent.

"The midfielder re-joined the Magpies for a third spell earlier in the summer from Gosport Borough.

"We would like to thank Charlie for his services to the club this season and wish him all the best for the future."

Making 16 appearances this season, Davis scored just once, taking his career tally to 13 from 68 games.

Managerless Dorchester are set to visit Gosport in the BetVictor Southern Premier South tonight (7.45pm), with first-team coach Jody Rivers taking temporary charge.
