A STRONG display of netball saw Artifex A take a convincing 42-33 win over Expert Catering.

The first quarter saw fast-paced play across the court. Both sides displayed strong shooting, keeping the scoreline fairly even.

However, Artifex A edged ahead by a few goals going into the second quarter.

Artifex A used space strategically to evade Expert’s defence. Artifex A’s GD, Sarah Breaks, made some impressive interceptions, giving her team crucial turnovers to increase their lead.

Half-time changes from Expert proved effective as they secured some good goals but Artifex A remained focused, racking up 15 points this quarter.

Expert upped their defence to secure more turnovers. However, Artifex A gave their all and steadily increased their lead to emerge triumphant.

DIVISION ONE

TEAM WAIKIKI 16

BUGLERS 42

BUGLERS continued their winning streak in style with an outstanding 42-16 result against Waikiki.

Mid-court play was tense from the start as both teams gave their all. However, Waikiki was a player down and Buglers took full advantage to carve out a solid lead.

Waikiki came back fighting after making some tactical changes but Buglers remained strong, with Anna Crabb (WA) using space effectively to give her teammates options and feeding well into the D.

Waikiki made more switches, resulting in better movement in their D. An injury for Buglers left them with six players, now in line with Waikiki. Waikiki took advantage of the levelled play to reduce Buglers’ lead slightly.

Waikiki came back fighting with a number of well-timed interceptions, although they struggled to convert. Buglers, however, secured some good turnovers to increase their lead and earn a solid victory.

CANNADOX 37

EXE TRAINING 15

RIGID defence kept Exe at bay as Cannadox seized an impressive 37-15 win over Exe Training.

Cannadox gained an early lead with several well-timed interceptions and fluid passing. Exe fought to gain possession but struggled to reach the D; Cannadox read the game well to intercept some high passes.

Exe upped their defence to stem their opponents’ scoring flow, although Cannadox’s shooters made the most of every opportunity to keep their team ahead.

Exe came into the third quarter with renewed determination and scoring was goal-for-goal through most of the quarter, although Cannadox managed to increase their lead by one point.

Lucy Bugler, GD for Exe, went for every rebound, fighting against dynamic duo Lynsey Gardner (GS) and Natalie Summerfield (GA) from Cannadox.

Ultimately, confident play from Cannadox throughout allowed them to keep to their game and secure the points.

DIVISION TWO

BEAMINSTER BRAVES 20

MERAKI 36

MERAKI gave their all to earn a 36-20 win despite an early lead for Beaminster Braves.

Braves made a good start to score the first few goals. Meraki fought for turnovers but well-timed interceptions saw Braves regain possession.

Laura Alexander, Braves’ GA, scored some excellent goals to increase her team’s lead. However, Meraki pushed ahead to bring the score level, with a final goal from GS, Carla Harper, giving them a one-point advantage.

Both teams upped the tempo in the middle quarters and Braves displayed strong mid-court presence but this was not enough to deter Meraki as they increased their lead.

Team changes at half-time gave both sides renewed energy. Play was more frantic as both sides settled into their new combinations but Meraki kept up their solid play to maintain their lead.

Meraki chased every ball and ended the final quarter with a big lead to claim a well-earned triumph.
