DORCHESTER Town temporary boss Jody Rivers will recall combative midfielder Luke Winsper from Shaftesbury for the Magpies’ BetVictor Southern Premier South battle at home to Tiverton Town tomorrow (3pm).

Winsper has featured only 10 times for Dorchester this season but possesses a career total of 76 appearances, scoring 10 goals for the Magpies.

Winsper had been on dual registration with the Rockies, who ply their trade two divisions below in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division.

Speaking to Echosport, Rivers revealed his decision is based on the “heart and passion” displayed by Winsper.

He said: “When he went out to Shaftesbury it was to keep his (match fitness) going, but that’s not materialised because he’s been suspended and they’ve had games called off.

“He came to training (on Tuesday) night and the lads think a lot of him. I just feel he’s a Dorchester player and his heart and passion is required.

“He’s not, in his own words, match-fit to start the game but just having him back around the place gives us a bit of a buzz.”

Commenting on Tiverton, Rivers believes the Yellows need “credit” for their league placing of second, 19 spots and 27 points ahead of the Magpies.

He said: “We’re looking forward to the game and we were disappointed Swindon was called off because we wanted to continue the positives from Gosport.

“Tiverton when we played them were a very good side. We were unfortunate again to come away with nothing – we lost 2-1 in the last minute.

“We can take positives from that. Also, they deserve a lot of credit. They’ve been very consistent and even when they’ve dropped points or been beaten, the very next game they’ve picked up three points.

“It will be a very tough game but something we are genuinely looking forward to.”

Dorchester winger Tom Blair will have a fitness test on his ankle problem prior to the match, while striker Klaidi Lolos will return after illness kept him out of the 4-4 draw at Gosport.
