WEYMOUTH will not rush talented forward Jack Hoey back into action too quickly, insists Weymouth manager Mark Molesley.

Hoey, who scored three goals in four games for loan club Dorchester this campaign, has been absent since September after sustaining a broken arm while on duty for the Magpies at Blackfield & Langley.

The off-balance youngster crashed into perimeter rails and advertising hoardings at the Gang Warily after a collision with home skipper Harry Medway.

Hoey’s injury required surgery, forcing him to take time off work and prompting generous collections from both Weymouth and Dorchester supporters to help with living costs during his recovery.

Hoey has in the past few weeks returned to running work, but his efforts are still strictly non-contact as he builds towards a return in the New Year.

Speaking to Echosport, Molesley revealed the Terras will place no pressure on setting a timescale for the forward’s return.

He said: “Jack has started doing some running but he’s full non-contact as his arm heals.

“It’s hard. We don’t want to put too much pressure on timelines for him. He had a lot of intrusive surgery so we’ve just got to see how that heals up.

“Jack is a fit lad, he’s already back in the gym and picking up his fitness. It’s more you can’t take any risks with any kind of contact with him.

“We’re building him up. We’ve got a great physio (Ben Hayes) at the club now who’s doing a lot of great work and he’s in good hands. He’ll be back when he’s ready.”
