DORCHESTER Town temporary boss Jody Rivers insists the Magpies must vastly improve on the 5-1 defeat to Tiverton if they are to beat Poole Town at the Clayson Stadium today (12pm).

The BetVictor Southern Premier South fixture was on Monday switched from the Black Gold Stadium amid concerns over the state of Poole’s saturated turf.

Poole have seen eight of their last nine home games postponed or switched owing to a waterlogged pitch.

But Rivers’ immediate concern was in avoiding a repeat of a dire second half against Tivvy.

He told Echosport: “It starts 0-0 and there’s always hope, but if we play like we did second half (against Tiverton) we won’t get anything.

“The one thing we can hope is that pride kicks in, but pride wasn’t shown (on Saturday). I’m fed up having to defend attitude and application which was not acceptable.”

Magpies’ keeper Nick Hutchings could return from suspension to face his former side.
