DORCHESTER Town temporary boss Jody Rivers believes the Magpies can produce a backs-to-the-wall display in their crunch bottom-of-the-table clash at Beaconsfield Town tomorrow (3pm).

Rivers’ men have just one victory in 17 BetVictor Southern Premier South games following a 2-2 draw against Blackfield & Langley on New Year’s Day.

However, the form of the rock-bottom Rams is little better, with one victory in 11 league games leading to a solitary point separating the sides.

Dorchester will also be without suspended trio Tom Blair, Nick Hutchings and Neil Martin, while Callum Rose (ankle) is a major doubt after being stretchered off against Blackfield.

Speaking to Echosport, Rivers said: “The beauty of football is that when your backs are really up against it, sometimes you produce your best – that’s what we’ve got to look to do.

“With respect to Blackfield, we set a target to win it and I believe we should’ve. They’ll probably say they deserved a point.

“Going into Beaconsfield, I know it’s a cliché, but we take the positives. I do believe we’re edging the right way.

“Our results would say differently and some supporters will say ‘Dorch have thrown away a two-goal lead’.

“But I don’t care what anyone says, these four performances, other than that latter part against Tiverton, we’ve actually played well.

“I understand that results are key, but if we can take the positivity of our performances I’m convinced we can get something at Beaconsfield.

“This group of players, the heart they’ve shown, we’ve more than enough to stay up. I think we will be OK.”
