DORCHESTER Town temporary boss Jody Rivers has resigned from his position at the Magpies for personal reasons.

Rivers, who had overseen four matches in charge following former boss Callum Brooks’ resignation, leaves the club with immediate effect having won two points from a possible 12.

However, Salisbury-based Rivers exits on good terms and admitted his family had been a large consideration in his decision.

He told Echosport: “With potentially a new manager coming in it will give them a fresh start.

“I’ve told Scott (Symes, chairman) if the new manager wants to speak to me about the players he’s more than welcome to give me a call.

“Also, it’s my family time. I’ve sat down with the family and people don’t realise how much does go into (the job).

“It wasn’t until the wife gave me some brutal answers to my questions that I realised they come first.

“There’s no animosity (at the club), no bad feeling at all, so it’s all good.”

Rivers' departure leaves the club managerless ahead of the Magpies’ pivotal clash at bottom side Beaconsfield tomorrow (3pm) as the league’s two bottom teams go head-to-head.

Rivers added: “It was a really positive conversation with Scott, really open and honest. It was quite emotional.

“I don’t really want to go and he doesn’t want me to go either, but we agreed it’s best all round for everyone.”

Dorchester are missing winger Tom Blair, goalkeeper Nick Hutchings and defender Neil Martin due to suspensions, while Callum Rose (ankle) is a major doubt after being stretchered off in the 2-2 draw with Blackfield & Langley.

Klaidi Lolos will also be absent, with the striker's loan from parent club Plymouth Argyle expiring.
