WEYMOUTH assistant-manager Tom Prodomo insisted the Terras “can’t look beyond” Verwood Town as the incentive of a Dorset Senior Cup final with arch-rivals Dorchester Town awaits.

Weymouth travel to Potterne Park tonight (7.45pm) looking to secure a derby with the Magpies, who sealed their final spot with a 4-1 victory over Wimborne last week.

Should the fixture survive Storm Brendan, Prodomo revealed Weymouth have had Town watched, treating them with full respect despite a four-division chasm between the sides.

He told Echosport: “Over the last two and a bit seasons we’ve created a real winning mentality here.

“It’s just an expectation at this football club that whoever we’re playing, in any competition, whether it’s home or away, that we go and win.

“That’s credit to our group of players and the players that’ve been here over that period, that they’ve created that mentality that certainly wasn’t here when we arrived.

“Just naturally through our knowledge of the local game (Verwood) are a team we know a lot about.

“We’ve had them watched as we do everyone. The boys will be prepared for that. So, the utmost respect for Adie (Arnold) and the players down there.

“We’ll be making changes and your plans as a football club are always a moving animal, so to speak.

“They’ll adjust slightly on who’s done what and where people are at, so there will be changes.”

On Dorchester, Prodomo added: “We’ve left them behind in terms of the division they’re in. Whilst we were in that league, it’s always an occasion for the fans and one the players look forward to.

“But we can’t look beyond Verwood. We’ve got to take every step as it comes and we’ve got a hurdle to get past first.”

Weymouth are unlikely to risk any players working their way back from injury for the contest.
