DORCHESTER Sports’ manager Ashley James has reiterated the importance of turning home draws into wins as Gillingham Town visit the Clayson Stadium tomorrow (2pm).

James’ men have taken a share of the spoils five times in eight Dorset Premier League home contests but remain in a lofty fifth spot.

According to James, that position could be higher if his side had been more clinical this season.

He told Echosport: “It’s an important part of the season now. The lads are disappointed we couldn’t get a couple of wins over the Christmas period.

“It started a little bit before that, it’s five draws now at home. The last four draws have cost us.

“We had three penalties in three of those games and we let a three-goal lead slip against Bridport, against 10 men.

“Really, we should be eight points better off at least this year, which would put us underneath Hamworthy Rec.

“We’ve got to turn these draws into wins now and hopefully we can start that (tomorrow).

“We’re creating enough chances, we’ve just got to put them away and then close games off.

“We’re still unbeaten at home, which is a nice record – last year we were losing these games. If we want to finish above Gillingham we’ve really got to beat them because they’re second in the league.”

Alex Stafie is unavailable, while Dan Peart is 50-50 with illness.
