DORCHESTER Town boss Leigh Robinson believes victory at Hayes & Yeading United can kick start the Magpies’ BetVictor Southern Premier South survival push.

Robinson takes his side to the SKYEx Community Stadium in search of his first league victory – and points – at the helm tomorrow (3pm).

But the former Truro and Taunton manager, whose troops lie bottom of the table compared to Hayes’ 10th, is wary of United’s strength.

Speaking to Echosport, Robinson described the west London side as “one of the most talented in the league”.

He said: “We’re looking at it knowing it’s going to be a really tough game.

“As far as I’m aware, player for player, they’re one of the most talented teams in the league.

“I’m acutely aware they maybe had to feel their way into the season. I think if they started with the team they’ve got now, they’d be higher up.

“Ourselves, we keep improving game by game. We’ve had a better squad available, that’s through people that we’ve signed as well as players returning.

“Talking about improvements and progress is all well and good but in our position we need wins on the board pretty soon.

“We’re aware we need some sort of result, certainly in the next three games, to arrest that slide.

“From our point of view, we need a result out of somewhere. In football one win changes everything, so that’s what we’ve got to look to do as soon as possible.

“If we can just get that one, we’ll hopefully build on that in the weeks following.”

Dorchester are expected to be without centre-back Callum Rose for at least two weeks through unavailability – although the former Plymouth man is nursing several injuries.

“It’s both ankles and his wrist at the same time in the same game,” Robinson confessed. “He’s been unavailable since New Year’s Day.

“On top of all the other players that are out that was bad timing. His wrist is fully healed, he’s still a bit behind on his ankles.

“Hopefully he can have a good rest, let his injuries recover and we’re hopeful he’ll be available from early February.”

Dorchester are in talks to extend Plymouth midfielder Tom Purrington’s loan spell at the club, while goalkeeper Nick Hutchings is back in contention.
