WEYMOUTH boss Mark Molesley is eager to get the Terras’ Dorset Senior Cup semi-final against Verwood Town completed ahead of their clash at the Bob Lucas Stadium tonight (7.45pm).

After a waterlogged pitch at Verwood’s Potterne Park twice forced the postponement of the tie, the Dorset FA have moved the venue to Weymouth’s ground – notorious as one of the best-kept surfaces in Dorset.

Pitch talk aside, Weymouth are hosting opponents ranked four divisions beneath them in the football pyramid, with a total of 74 places separating the sides in the English football pyramid.

Asked how tricky the gap in levels would be to tackle, Molesley told Echosport: “It’s always difficult because it’s basically going to come down to our mentality and attitude.

“If we turn up, approach it right like we have done this season, with the right mentality then I’m sure we’ll have a good game.

“If we don’t it's a potential banana skin. I know for a fact they’ll be turning up and giving it their best shot.

“Whoever plays I expect to play the Weymouth way and stick to our principles. As long as they do that I’ll never have any problems with the result.

“I always believe that will give us the best chance of winning, anyway. As long as we approach it in the right manner we’ll get what we need out of the game.”

Molesley rued the double postponement before two vital National League South games.

“It’s unfortunate we couldn’t get it played the last couple of weeks,” Molesley said. “It was in a quieter time for us.

“Now we’ve got Dorking at home and Hemel away on Tuesday two massive games for us.

“We’ll just have to use (Verwood) to get what we need out of it – minutes for some people and continue to build fitness on ones that need it.

“It’s getting that balance right of not pushing some players into playing, we can’t take risks.”

Captain Josh McQuoid is likely to be rested with a hamstring niggle, while Andy Robinson (ankle), Cam Murray (shin and ankle), Jack Hoey (arm) and Calvin Brooks (ankle) remain sidelined.
