DORCHESTER Town boss Leigh Robinson insisted the Magpies have the “firepower” to cause an upset in their BetVictor Southern Premier South clash at home to Salisbury tomorrow (3pm).

Robinson’s men welcome former Weymouth player and manager Steve Claridge to the Clayson Stadium, signalling the final match in a harsh run of fixtures.

In their past three fixtures, Dorchester have faced three of the top eight and now face the sixth-placed Whites who have only taken two away league wins this season.

On paper, February seems a far kinder month to bottom side Dorchester with crunch clashes against relegation rivals Hartley Wintney and Yate on the horizon.

Speaking to Echosport, Robinson said: “It’s another tough fixture with the run of games we’ve had.

“If we can frustrate Salisbury like we did with Swindon (on Tuesday) for a little bit longer, we can perhaps nick something.

“Certainly, our focus against the top teams is staying in games – that’s something that throughout the season the team hasn’t done that well.

“If we can do that, there’s no doubt we’ve got the firepower to nick something.

“Also, we’ve got to take inspiration from the other sides around us. Yate have put together a good run and beat Taunton and Chesham. If we’re at our best, it can be done.”

Strikers Tom Bath (illness) and Harry Warwick (Achilles) are expected to return, but defenders Jamie Laird (hamstring) and Tiago Sa (foot) are 50-50.

Ben Rowthorn is banned for three games after his red card at Hayes, while Tom Blair sits out the fifth of his seven-game suspension. Callum Rose and Kyle Egan are unavailable.

Dorchester kitman Derek Taylor is also set to retire.

Chairman Scott Symes said: “Days like these at the football club are some of the hardest. When people like Del move on it reminds everyone about the unwavering human spirit that is required from people to help keep our club going.

“Del truly has a determination and spirit second to none and will be sorely missed on a day to day basis by every each and everyone of us.

“Del’s individual health must come first and everyone at the club wishes Del a full speedy recovery, and we expect to see Del around the club he loves very soon enjoying an orange tango and asking what the Blackpool score is!”
