NOT even Storm Ciara could put off over 200 runners at the second West Dorset Primary cross country race at Beaminster School.

Conditions were muddy but for the duration of the race runners were gifted with sun and perfect running conditions.

In the Year 3 and 4 girls’ race Tilly Lu Winters O’Brien and Harry Elliott from St Catherine’s in Bridport triumphed once more to take first place.

The overall team spoils for the girls were won by Parrett and Axe who also took the B team result.

Parrett & Axe and St Catherine’s shared the boys’ prize after both schools finished with 18 points. Parrett and Axe took the B team trophy again.

The combined team score saw Parrett and Axe beat St Catherine’s with Salway Ash in third.

The Year 5 boys’ race was won by Jack March at St Catherine’s, following up on his win at Colfox just a few weeks ago. St Catherine’s won the overall A team result with Bridport Primary taking the B team trophy.

Lyra Webb from Thorners won the girls’ race with Bridport Primary School taking the A team and B team trophy.

Star of the day was undoubtedly Lenny from Broadwindsor School who completed the Colfox and Budmouth races and was applauded in by students from all the different schools.

Lenny had been determined to run both events and is campaigning to raise money and awareness of cerebral palsy.

Colfox would like to thank GCH once again for sponsoring the trophies and Dave Penn (GHG) for taking the time to present all the awards.
