WEYMOUTH midfielder Cameron Murray’s operation to solve a long-standing compartment syndrome issue was a success, according to boss Mark Molesley.

Murray has suffered with the problem for several months, leading to an invasive surgical procedure to cure his ailment.

However, while this week’s operation went well, the Terras are now faced with the challenge of building a path to recovery from an injury with which they have little experience.

Molesley told Echosport: “The surgeon was happy with what he saw.

“It’s not a complicated procedure but it’s an injury that we haven’t got much experience in dealing with.

“We’re just working out how’s the best way to come back from it. Different people respond to the operation in different ways.

“How Cam feels at different stages now is how much we can pick up his rehab.

“We’re hoping he responds well and we might have a chance of seeing him before the end of the season – there’s a lot of ifs, buts and maybes.”

Molesley also revealed Murray is itching to make a return after featuring just 20 times this campaign – 14 as a substitute.

He said: “Cam loves football. He’s a breath of fresh air to have around the place, he’s a great character and someone we’ve missed since he’s been out.

“He gives us great balance, he’s a different type of player to what we’ve got.

“He’s been a big miss but there won’t be anyone more determined to get on that pitch than him.”
