ANDREW McDermott nailed the highest possible checkout in darts with a 170 finish in his very first leg of the evening against Nigeria Davis in the latest round of Weymouth ADC fixtures.
This surpassed Mel Burton’s long-standing 167 checkout from the very first week of the season.
McDermott went on to defeat Davis 4-2 but was lucky to win as a classy 100 checkout hitting single 20 tops, tops, handed Davis chances for the draw and win but alas could not see the game out.
A straightforward 4-0 victory over Simon Sharpe followed with a final 3-3 draw against Simon Churchill, both players trading 180s at the start of a leg showing the closeness of this game.
Churchill went on to claim two victories against young Eddie Knell and Ian Lloyd to solidify his place in the top-12 race.
Lloyd suffered a miserable evening on the oche, falling to two further defeats at the hands of an in-form Chris Burton and Mark Samways respectively.
Samways picked up a 4-0 victory over Bazza Stratford and handed a 4-0 whitewash to Arnie Quinn whose evening slightly improved securing a win over Stratford plus a hard-fought 3-3 draw with Andy Masters.
Danny Aplin showed his class with three ton-plus checkouts including a 160 and two 180s in his three victories on the night, one of those coming against Guy Paddock.
Paddock showed glimpses of form and was able to pick up a 4-0 win against Knell while also hitting a 180 and a 103 out.
Shaun Lampard did his charge for the top-12 no harm with three solid victories and also pulled out a saucy 136 checkout.
Mel Burton returned to form picking up two wins and a draw with the draw coming against Drew Peacock.
Peacock went undefeated on the night, beating Masters 4-2 and also finding a magnificent 131 checkout when needed.
Trev Honnor cemented his place within the league’s elite with two victories and a draw, with the draw coming against Stewart Masters.
Stewart Masters did pick up a victory but fell 4-0 to ADC favourite Aplin.
Sharpe struggled on the night but did secure another victory to maintain his top-12 bid.
With no less than eight ton-plus checkouts on the night the standard has remained throughout the season.
