WEYMOUTH have swooped to extend highly-rated midfielder Tom Whelan's loan from Yeovil Town until the end of the season.
Whelan, 24, has flourished in the absence of fellow central midfielder Andreas Robinson, who in the 4-2 win over Dorchester on Tuesday night made his first start for over four months following an ankle injury.
Whelan scored and missed a penalty in Weymouth's 5-1 thrashing of Maidstone United on Saturday - his only strike to date.
The former Salisbury midfielder has so far made 15 appearances for the Terras since joining in January.
Whelan's extension has been made possible by funds generated from the Wessex Fantasy Football scheme.
Earlier this week, Robinson also penned an extension to his deal, keeping him at the Bob Lucas Stadium beyond his present stay of 16 games.
