WEYMOUTH midfielder Tom Whelan is “getting the best out of himself” at the Terras, according to boss Mark Molesley.

Whelan has impressed since joining Weymouth on loan from rivals Yeovil Town, scoring his first goal in the 5-1 Vanarama National League South victory over Maidstone United.

Terras’ fans voted the former Salisbury maestro, 24, as their player of the month for February.

Whelan’s performances have been rewarded with an extended loan from the Glovers, covering the remainder of the season.

Speaking to Echosport, Molesley said: “He’s gone from strength-to-strength since he’s been with us.

“He’s getting the best out of himself now with a run of games.

“When he first came to us he wasn’t quite match-fit, but every game he’s continued to grow.

“We’re really enjoying having him.”

Whelan will be in the Weymouth squad as third meets fourth when Slough Town visit the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
