DORCHESTER Town first-team coach Robbie Herrera believes the Magpies have the “perfect opportunity” to strike back-to-back wins when Gosport visit the Clayson Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

Leigh Robinson’s men broke an 18-game winless BetVictor Southern Premier South run with a 1-0 triumph against Wimborne on Saturday.

Victory in the ‘Magpies derby’ laid the platform for a tilt at successive league wins for the first time this season.

Dorchester have only achieved consecutive victories once this campaign when beating Evesham United 2-0 in the FA Cup first qualifying round before claiming a 3-1 win at Hendon last September.

Speaking to Echosport, Herrera expects the Magpies’ squad to be “relishing” the chance for back-to-back successes.

He said: “We’ve got the perfect opportunity. I’m not saying it’s going to be an easy game, because it won’t be.

“I know Gosport Borough are a decent outfit and they can pick up good results. It will be a difficult game but the possibility of back-to-back wins is one the lads should be relishing.

“I would’ve thought the three points gained last Saturday would’ve put a bit of confidence back into the lads.

“They’ve been a good group to work with – they haven’t shied away from anything. They’ve tried to take things on board.

“It’s just at times individual errors have cost us. The opportunity to get back-to-back wins will be one that they should look at as a challenge.”

Herrera also dismissed the notion of an extra layer of significance to the clash with Charlie Davis and Dan Strugnell, both Dorchester departures this season, having moved to Gosport.

“I don’t know too much about what went on previously, and I don’t particularly need to know,” he said.

“I’m just hoping the boys take it as another game, another chance to get three points on the board and claw our way back towards the teams that are above us.”

Charlie Madden and Callum Rose (both foot) are nearing a return, with the latter an unused substitute against Wimborne.

Herrera also teased the possibility of two new signings next week.
