FOOTBALL may be suspended but players are now turning to an app for their football fix.

Champion Sports have devised a new app where players can hone their skills in their own back yards while in lockdown.

Weymouth’s Jake McCarthy runs the app, which includes a mix of technical and physical sessions.

Instructional videos direct players in mini sessions which can be completed in a small space, such as a garden.

Champion Sports’ director Dan Neville explained the app is handy for “keeping players busy”.

He said: “During this period of isolation we have been keeping players busy with the Champion PlayerPathway App.

“We have around 150 players per day from all over the UK, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, USA and the British Virgin Islands all practicing their skills at home.

“The app is free to download and contains a varied range of technical and physical skill moves and challenges. The app includes sessions on passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting and a variety of skill moves.

“Every session comes complete with an instruction video to guide the player through the skill and offer tips on how to improve.

“Our skill programs include the following: The Individual Player Development Program, Tylers10, ProSeries and FS Freestyle moves. Further details can be found on the app.

“To download the app search AppStore or playstore for Champion PlayerPathway, download and create a profile, go to the Performance Corner and find lots of sessions to keep you busy.”
