WITH a play-offs semi final to look forward to this weekend, Weymouth Football Club has announced the closure of its fundraising page after reaching their £35,000 target.

Terras’ board of directors set up a fundraising page after finding out the extra financial pressures put on them to adhere to coronavirus restrictions during the National League South play-offs. The club needed £35,000 to go through all of the Covid-19 testing stages and for other things such as making the Bob Lucas Stadium Covid-safe.

Now Mark Molesley’s side can look forward to Saturday’s clash with Dorking Wanderers without worrying about money.

A spokesman for the Weymouth FC board of directors said: “We have successfully reached our Play-Off target of £35k. Due to this fantastic achievement, we are able to close our appeal with immediate effect.

“From the bottom of the Terras family heart, we thank every single one of you that has contributed to the playoff appeal. Your superb generosity has enabled the club to fund Mark and the players to finish what we started last August. We also know that even though unfortunately you can’t be with them in the Bob Lucas Stadium this Saturday, this act of generosity, drive and support will act as that 12th man that we all treasure so much.

“So once again, thank you all. What we can achieve together is truly what this Terras Family is all about and we are so proud of every single one of you. Whether you have donated, bought a special play-off shirt, enjoyed a quiz or performed a heroic scooter challenge, you are the best.

“Together let’s send our support and hopes to Mark, his management team and every single player who will put on that Terras shirt in this playoff campaign.”

Although Terras fans will not be able to attend the play-off semi-final this weekend, with all post-season games due to be played behind closed doors, they can still be a part of the special occasion.

There will be a limited run of match day programmes to commemorate the semi-final. In order to secure your copy, you can pre-order through the Terras’ online shop www.wfcsa.co.uk/shop.

Deadline for pre-orders will be 10pm on Thursday, July 23. Programmes are expected to be dispatched from Monday, July 27 onwards.

For those wanting to watch the game, the Vanamara National League will be live streaming all play-off games this summer.
