WEYMOUTH have confirmed manager Mark Molesley is in talks with Southend United over succeeding Sol Campbell as the Blues' new boss.
Echosport earlier reported Molesley as having had talks with Southend this weekend.
The Terras are "doing their utmost" to keep Molesley working for the Dorset club.
Weymouth's number one, who is under contract for another season at the Bob Lucas Stadium, is fighting with Shrimpers' under-23 coach Craig Fagan for the Roots Hall job.
Molesley is yet to decide on his future pathway, while Southend chairman Ron Martin has failed to deliver on a promise to unveil United's new boss by Tuesday teatime.
In a brief statement, Weymouth said: "Weymouth Football Club board of directors can confirm that manager Mark Molesley is in talks with Football League side Southend United.
"The club are doing their utmost to persuade Mark to stay at the club."
Molesley is currently 1/5 favourite with bookmakers to land the role, which has been open for six weeks.
