DORCHESTER Rugby Club has welcomed Clayson Scaffolding as a new commercial partner.

Following the first XV’s promotion to the Southern Counties South, after an unbeaten 2019/20 league season, Clayson Scaffolding has generously agreed to support a new initiative with the club, the ‘Clayson Club Development Plan’.

This development plan will provide the much-needed resources to enable the implementation of a comprehensive programme designed to attract, develop and retain players at all levels with quality coaching, individual player training and improvement plans, physical recovery programmes and gym facilities all designed to enable players to fulfil their ultimate potential.

In recent years, Dorchester have been producing outstanding players, in both the male and female game, via their incredibly successful colts, youth and junior sections.

Dorchester Rugby Club has had players joining Premiership clubs and Pro14 club academies and some have represented their countries.

This plan will underpin these activities ensuring that not only does the club continue to provide a pathway for players who want to attain elite rugby but that they also provide every opportunity and support for players of all abilities to play and enjoy rugby at whatever level they find suits them.

There will be a ‘Clayson’s man of the match’ for each first XV game, home and away, throughout the season.

Club chairman Tony Foot welcomed Leigh Cornick on board and said: “The club looks forward to working with Leigh over the next three years to see our player numbers grow as we can offer a great environment to play the game and seeing more of our youth section come through the ranks to join our first team.

“It would be fantastic to see some more of our homegrown talent achieve the dream of playing for their country having started here at this great club.”

Cornick and his team will soon become familiar faces at Surcouf Park, attending as many home games as possible.
