DORCHESTER Town first-team coach Robbie Herrera expects rivals Weymouth to provide the Magpies with their biggest test of pre-season tonight (7.45pm).

The Magpies welcome the Terras to the Avenue for their penultimate friendly, with the clash expected to be a sell-out of 600 fans.

Dorchester have lost just twice this summer after a Bristol City XI and Hungerford Town took 4-1 and 3-1 victories respectively.

Asked whether National League newbies Weymouth signalled Dorchester’s biggest test of pre-season, Herrera replied: “Yes, they’re a good side with some good footballers.

“It will be a tough test and hopefully we have a couple of extra bodies back, get a bit of shape and understanding between the lads that are going to be starting the season.

“First and foremost it’s about getting lads match fit.

“Perhaps we’ll look to get a settled side and not chop and change so much looking towards that first game of the season.”

Striker Emile Ngoy (calf) and utility player Harry Hodges (dead leg) remain doubts.

At Weymouth, new manager Brian Stock is poised for his first taste of the Ridgeway derby – albeit in uncompetitive circumstances.

And tonight he will get to meet the Terras’ faithful for the first time, too.

He said: “When the players came into the changing room that was the first time I’d met them.

“In an ideal world you’d like a couple of days leading up to the game to try and work on one or two things.

“The information I gave them before the game was drawn up on the board rather than in a session, so they delivered that very well.

“When the supporters come in, the attendances should be higher than what they’re used to.”

New signings Cody Cooke (hamstring) and Myles Anderson (ankle) are doubts after sustaining minor niggles in the 3-1 win over Havant on Saturday.

Stock said: “Cody just felt a tweak in his hamstring, so he should be OK. Whether we take a chance on him (tonight) we’ll look at that.

“Myles, as he went up for a header he landed and rolled his ankle a little bit. I had a similar injury myself, so I understand how that might settle quickly.

“We’ll assess the situation ready for Dorch.”
