STAR winger Tom Blair has returned to Dorchester after an unsuccessful trial at Yeovil Town.

Blair had been given permission to try his luck at the National League side by chairman Scott Symes and the management team of Leigh Robinson and Robbie Herrera.

The Magpies' maestro lined up for Yeovil in a friendly at Frome Town last Tuesday but was not offered a permanent deal.

Any Yeovil move for Blair would have commanded a fee as the exciting winger is under contract at the Avenue Stadium this season.

Speaking to Echosport while Blair was trialling, Herrera said: "I think he's capable of playing at that level.

"(Yeovil) asked to have a look at him. We're here to help and develop the lads and if we can move a few of them on, and it benefits the club, then great.

"We want to be known as a club that develops our own players. If we can get them out to professional clubs, while still trying to push this club forward, that's good business."

In a short statement, Dorchester said Blair is "fully focused" on his efforts with the Magpies.

"We can confirm that Tom Blair, who is under contract with the Magpies for the 2020/21 season, recently spent a short spell on trial at Yeovil Town with the club’s permission," the Magpies said.

"Tom is now back with the Magpies and fully focused on the start of the upcoming season with the club."

Blair could line up as the Magpies host Weymouth in friendly action tonight (7.45pm).
