DORSET speedster Brad Jones took a stunning double podium in the third round of the Quattro Group Supersport Championship at Silverstone.

Tysers Yamaha rider Jones battled disappointment at Snetterton last time out with a best of sixth, but turned the tide in spectacular fashion to record one second and a third-placed finish.

Making a phenomenal start in race one, Jones was up to second by the exit of turn one. Jones led on lap four but fell to third in the remaining 14 laps.

He said “The rest of the race was pretty hectic! The class is so close this year and I’m pushed for the duration of the race. I managed to cross the line for my first podium of the season, and it was great to finally come away with some silverware!”

In race two Jones produced another good start before settling into his pace.

Jones was rewarded for a dazzling final lap as he rose from fourth to second with two gutsy passes in a dramatic finale.

He said: “I made a pass for third at the start of the lap and kept tight to the guy in second.

“I made a last-minute lunge and dived up the inside at the penultimate corner and rode defensive into the final turn and brought it home in second place!

“A double podium for the team and I, and it’s great to finally reward my sponsors with two decent finishes.

“The short season means we’re already halfway through and I’m sitting in third for the championship, with just seven points to second.”

Jones’ teammate Rory Skinner has won all six races this season.
