WEYMOUTH boss Brian Stock insisted the Terras’ late equaliser against Exeter City “epitomises” the fighting spirit within the squad.

Calvin Brooks leapt up to score a header in the 90th minute, cancelling out an earlier strike by Exeter’s former Magpies’ striker Ben Seymour.

Willingness to scrap until the final whistle was a hallmark of the Terras under previous boss Mark Molesley and Stock was pleased to see that trait continue in his tenure.

Speaking to uptheterras.co.uk he said: “I’m delighted. When you look at the organisation, work rate and desire you can see every one of them is fighting for their place.

“For me, it’s a fantastic environment to be in. Scoring almost with the last kick of the game epitomises the quality and desire this team has.

“It was a great workout for us. Exeter were quite direct at times in the first half and then in the second half they popped the ball about quite well.

“I’m really thankful to them for coming and giving us a game.

“Leading up to the start of the season and the fixtures that will come our way, that was almost a carbon copy of what we’ll be facing.

“They’ve got a few players coming back from injury and a few kids, so it’s not their full-strength side.

“A draw was the least we deserved. There were a couple of instances where great saves from their goalkeeper kept them in the game.

“It’s great fitness and I’m looking forward to seeing their GPS units to see how hard they really did work.”
