WEYMOUTH WOMEN 12

LONGFLEET LIONESSES 0

WEYMOUTH Women made a scintillating start to their pre-season campaign with a 12-0 demolition of Longfleet Lionesses.

Natalie Anderson’s red-hot squad went 9-0 up at half-time as striker Lily Beasley scored a hat-trick in the first 19 minutes.

Shakira Howard, Lucy Roberts and Tasha Sibley all scored braces, supported by Charlie Wilson, Katy Wilkinson and Meg Wilkinson strikes.

A relentless start from the Terras saw them overpower their Poole-based opponents in the first 20 minutes.

Beasley scored after just three minutes, as the newly-formed Weymouth Women’s side took to the pitch for the first time in six years.

Wilson doubled their lead two minutes later from distance, before Beasley added another.

Weymouth made it 4-0 before 10 minutes were up as winger Howard joined in before Roberts powered a header home.

Beasley’s hat-trick was completed with a low powerful drive.

The former Redlands striker would have upgraded her hat-trick to a four-goal haul were it not for some improved defending from the Lionesses’ backline and another effort cannoning off the post.

Sibley, Weymouth’s captain for the day, made it 7-0 when she headed in from an inswinging Roberts corner.

Roberts herself then scored arguably the pick of the bunch when her 25-yard free-kick bent around the wall and into the top corner.

Deep-lying midfielder Katy Wilkinson added the ninth shortly before half-time.

Howard coolly dispatched a one-on-one shortly after half-time before Sibley bagged her brace with an unstoppable strike from 25 yards out, lobbing the Longfleet goalkeeper.

Longfleet’s defence tightened up to frustrate Weymouth until a bursting run from Meg Wilkinson saw her beat two defenders before slotting into the bottom corner.

Paige McCarthy went close with a long-range effort sailing just over and Emma Potter came closer when she went on a marauding run from centre-back but also fired over the bar.
