BRAD Jones took his first victory of the Quattro British Supersport Championship with a sterling performance at Oulton Park.

Previous to Jones’ win, Tysers Yamaha teammate Rory Skinner had taken all six wins available.

However, after making a great start in race one and taking the lead for the first time on lap five, Jones changed positions every few corners with Skinner in a thrilling battle, ultimately holding off the championship leader to claim his first win.

Jones said: “We worked to our plan throughout the weekend to set us up strong for the races. We had shown good pace throughout the weekend and it was mega to back that up with a win in the sprint race.

“Rory pushed me all the way but it felt great to have the winning pace after a tricky start to the year!”

In race two, a blinding start gave Jones the holeshot maintaining a Team Appleyard McAdam one-two at the end of lap one.

The pair lapped over half a second faster than the chasing pack, but Skinner pipped Jones by less than a second.

Jones said: “To start from pole position in race two and go on to battle for another win was a real confidence boost and although I missed out on the double by 0.3 of a second, it was nice to take a strong points haul and show my true potential which now we can take through to the final two rounds.

“There are just four races to go in the British Supersport Championship and I’m holding second position overall. I have to say a massive thank you as always to all my amazing sponsors, fans and readers for all the support this season so far.”
