MIDFIELDER Tom Whelan and defender Calvin Brooks have committed to Weymouth on the eve of the Vanarama National League season.

Whelan made 19 appearances for the Terras after signing on loan from arch-rivals Yeovil Town in the previous campaign.

Former Salisbury maestro Whelan scored and missed a penalty in the Terras' 5-1 win over Maidstone last season - the only strike in his spell.

He also converted the opening spot-kick in Weymouth's 3-0 shoot-out victory over Dartford to help the Terras clinch promotion.

Brooks, meanwhile, has been a mainstay of the Terras’ squad for several seasons, racking up over 250 appearances at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Brooks has proved his versatility in recent campaigns, stationed predominantly as a defender.

Most often deployed at right wing-back, Brooks can also play in an attacking right-sided role and will vie with Brennan Camp for a start at Altrincham tomorrow (3pm).

Elsewhere, AFC Totton have announced the signing of former Weymouth centre-back Stephane Zubar.
