SENIOR duo Dom Panesar-Dower and Eder Batista have left Portland United, interim boss Gary Bailey confirmed.

Both players contested their final game for the Blues in last week’s 8-2 loss at Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division leaders Fareham Town.

They played no part in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat against AFC Portchester.

Striker Batista, who is now at Brockenhurst, scored two goals in three games, while midfielder Panesar-Dower’s spell lasted six matches.

The former Dorchester Town pair were signed by previous manager Callum Brooks, but Bailey revealed their exits were due to logistical reasons.

“It’s just geographically, really,” he told Echosport.

“Callum brought them in and they were from his neck of the woods. With Callum leaving I think they thought they were Callum’s players.

“They came to the club with Callum and for Callum. Geographically it’s a long trip and it hasn’t worked out.

“We wish them well wherever they end up. They represented the club well in the short time they were at the club.”
