WEYMOUTH have received one positive Covid-19 test, the club has confirmed.

The Terras have not revealed whether the result was returned by a player, staff member or volunteer but admitted the person involved was "asymptomatic".

Weymouth's Vanarama National League match with Sutton United tomorrow (3pm) will go ahead as planned.

Four players and a backroom staff member are now self-isolating, leaving Weymouth with a maximum of 19 players available to face Sutton.

Throughout the pandemic, teams have strongly protected identities of those with positive tests.

In a statement, the Terras said: "Weymouth Football Club can confirm that it has had one positive case of coronavirus, despite the person involved being asymptomatic.

"The club’s doctor and Covid officer have both been in contact with the National League and its chief medical officer to inform them of the situation and the subsequent steps taken by the club.

"In line with the Covid protocols that the club has in place and following NHS Track & Trace guidelines the club now has four players and a member of backroom staff self-isolating.

"The club has been given the go-ahead to continue its league program and we look forward to hosting Sutton United this weekend."
