BRIDPORT were swept aside 5-0 at Hallen in a heavy Toolstation Western League Premier Division defeat.

Jamie Manley’s Bees were 4-0 down in 20 minutes, although Bridport had two huge chances at 2-0 down to reduce their arrears.

Hallen scored a fifth goal in the second half and, but for another tremendous display from young keeper Jordon Scadding, the Armadillos might have added more.

Hallen’s win was only their second in 13 games this season and Bridport are now six points and two places behind in 20th, albeit with four games in hand.

Poor defending ultimately cost the Bees as the match was effectively lost inside the first quarter of the match.

Jordan Ricketts’ darting run and pass prised open the visitors’ defence and Sacha Tong blasted past Scadding for 1-0 in the ninth minute.

Tong had his second when finishing off Cory Simpson’s pass, but Bridport were far from beaten after 12 minutes.

Dec Cornish whacked an effort against the post two minutes later and striker Liam Sayers saw a golden one-on-one chance saved by Tom Creed.

Sayers was punished for the miss as the clearance from the rebound helped set up the hosts’ third goal, Hallen breaking at speed as Ricketts teed up Simpson to slot home.

Bridport’s situation worsened despite a good save from Scadding, Ricketts then burying his parry for 4-0 after 20 minutes.

Scadding saved a one-on-one chance to deny Elliott Gibbons a fifth but Hallen only had to wait until four minutes after the break to score number five.

Luke Hall-Cousins outpaced the away defence on the right and lashed past Scadding to complete the rout.

Bridport sub Shane Evans had two half chances but Hallen went closest to scoring a sixth as Scadding denied Tong his hat-trick after blocking Rob Latham’s shot.

Speaking post-match, Manley said: “We were really poor, especially in the first half.

“Basic errors for the goals. We’ve gone 2-0 down quite early on but within that space of time, Dec has hit the post and Liam has had a one-on-one and should’ve scored.

“It was fine margins at that point. Instead of looking to get it back to two-all, they’ve gone up the other end and made it 3-0. It sucked the life out of us and was a killer.”
