Weymouth “won’t be the last” club to suffer a major Covid-19 outbreak this season

In the days following Weymouth’s terrific 2-1 win at Stockport, the Terras returned a “substantial” number of positive tests.

National League officials were consequently forced to place Weymouth into full isolation until Monday, November 16.

The decision means the Terras will not host Wrexham in front of the BT Sport cameras on Saturday.

Weymouth will return one day before their clash with arch-rivals Yeovil Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

While White remains confident in Weymouth’s Covid protocols, the chairman will target away travel as an aspect for improvement.

He told Echosport: “We will look at travelling away and see if we can find an easier way to do it.

“The most important thing is wellbeing and everybody’s comfortable to carry on performing for the club.

“To be fair to the club, I don’t think there’s much wrong with the Covid policy, all of them have worked really well.

“It’s happening all over the place. You’ve got Wimbledon off (at Barrow) because they’ve got Covid problems, so it’s such a difficult thing to determine.

“If we could all sit there and say ‘right, it happened there, this is what caused it’ you might be able to put things in place.

“Our whole Covid policy works really well but we’re not the first club that suffers like this and won’t be the last, that’s for certain.”

White would not be drawn on exact numbers of cases, adding: “It’s quite substantial because we had a slight issue when we played Sutton and were able to play.

“I’m not going to go into numbers or names but it’s substantial enough that we aren’t able to play and the National League have put us into complete isolation.”
