WEYMOUTH are facing an injury crisis ahead of their FA Trophy third round tie with Maidenhead tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras welcome their fellow National League side to the Bob Lucas Stadium with a considerable queue for the treatment table.

In Tuesday night’s 3-2 loss to Wrexham, Sean Shields (hamstring), Ben Thomson (ankle) and Josh Leslie-Smith (blurred vision) were the latest casualties.

The likes of Cameron Murray (concussion), Brennan Camp, Andreas Robinson (hip), Josh Dickson (leg) and Ade Olumuyiwa were already nursing injuries.

In the aftermath of the Wrexham defeat, striker Shamir Mullings also left the club.

At the time of writing, Weymouth were also waiting to hear of any potential disciplinary action against manager Brian Stock, who was red carded after full-time on Tuesday.

But despite the significant number of players missing, Stock is fully focused on taking one step closer to Wembley.

He told Echosport: “I want to win every game of football and the FA Trophy is no different.

“I was disappointed about the FA Cup against Oxford.

“I’m very passionate and want to win football matches and (tomorrow) will be no different.

“We put a lot of effort in when we look at the opposition and it will be no different when we look at Maidenhead.”

Stock was particularly disappointed to lose Thomson, who has shone in recent games.

He said: “We’re a part-time team and Ben’s struggling to play 90 minutes now.

“He worked so hard for the first 45 minutes (against Wrexham) and rolled his ankle, so he had to be forced to come off.

“He’s played really well the last three games. He’s made a real difference up front and I’ve been really pleased with his performances.”

Skipper Josh McQuoid was subbed late on against Wrexham having scored three goals in four games.

Stock added: “He’s been excellent since he came out of isolation.

“He’s come back, he’s a leader, he’s well respected within the changing room and leads by example in his performances.

“There was a big demand of Josh trying to press their centre-halves and we needed some fresh legs towards the end trying to stop long balls coming into our box.”
