DORCHESTER Town boss Robbie Herrera voiced his satisfaction at keeping Torquay United loan pair Olaf Koszela and Louie Slough at the Avenue Stadium.

Magpies’ fans will get another chance to see the promising duo in action when Christchurch visit the Avenue Stadium for a mid-season friendly tonight (7.30pm).

Herrera has been in close contact with Gulls’ assistant manager Aaron Downes over the pair’s progress.

Koszela has bagged two goals for the Magpies since joining, while Herrera has high hopes for centre-half Slough.

Dorchester’s manager told Echosport: “We’re happy to keep them. Olaf’s been great for us, he’s been real positive in his play.

“Louie’s still got a little bit to do, he’s still learning but he’s got potential there.

“This level of football is going to develop him. We need him to be a little more aggressive and he’s got to move the ball a bit quicker.

“It seems he’s been learning since he’s been at Torquay and they rate him quite highly. We’ve just got to bring a little more out of him.”

Herrera has brought in the services of Bath City midfielder Callum Watts, effectively on a trial basis, as no deal has yet been done.

"He's been at Southampton from nine years old right the way through and he's only 19 now," Herrera said.

"He's respresented Wales at Under-15, 17 and 19 level. We've done a little homework on him and spoken to people who've known him from his time at Southampton.

"Paul Bodin is his national team manager, so they speak quite highly of him.

"He's not featuring (for Bath) at the moment, although he's been in the squad for the last few games.

"I've spoken to Jerry Gill (Bath boss) who's been kind enough to let us have a look at him.

"It's a not a deal that's been done and dusted yet. It's a case of him coming in for us to have a look at him and him to have a look at us."

Sam Davidson (ankle) and Harry Hodges (Achilles) will both take part in the warm-up, with Davidson potentially earning match minutes should he come through unscathed.

In playing Christchurch, Dorchester have the chance to avenge this season’s shock 2-1 FA Cup loss to their ninth-division foes.

And Herrera said the fixture provided some players with an opportunity to right those wrongs.

He said: "They were after a game, we needed a game and I thought it would be a good idea.

"They came forward and said they were willing to travel so we said 'let's get it on'.

"It's a chance for some of the lads who were involved that day to put things right because it was a poor performance on the night down there.

"Also, it keeps the group together and it gives us a chance to work on a few things that we've gone through in training over the past couple of weeks."

Dorchester are using friendlies in a bid to keep their squad match-fit for a possible return to league action.

Southern League officials say a restart will not happen earlier than Saturday, January 9.
