DORCHESTER TOWN 3

Koszela 10, 22, Watts 89

CHRISTCHURCH 2

Wilcock 11, Ohameje 31

TEN-MAN Dorchester Town sealed a late 3-2 victory in an entertaining mid-season friendly with Christchurch at the Avenue Stadium.

Olaf Koszela bagged a brace either side of Max Wilcock’s header and Emmanuel Ohameje levelled with a well-taken finish on the half hour.

Koszela saw red for a studs-up challenge before trialist Callum Watts won it in the 89th minute with a clever low free-kick under the Priory wall.

Looking for a small piece of revenge following the 2-1 FA Cup loss to Christchurch earlier this season, Dorchester began at pace.

Tom Bath scuffed a shot wide from 20 yards before Koszela’s strength in the area allowed him to hold his ground, control and poke just wide from 10 yards.

Koszela made no mistake in the 10th minute as a neat drag back on the byline enabled the Torquay loanee to charge into the area and unleash a fierce drive past Lewis Gunstone-Gray from the tightest of angles.

Tenacious Christchurch were level inside 60 seconds when Wilcock was left unmarked at the back post to direct a downward header just over the line.

Magpies’ trialist Watts tried his luck from 20 yards but failed to trouble Gunstone-Gray as Dorchester continued to surge forward.

And the hosts grabbed a second on the counter as Koszela intercepted a free-kick routine before playing in Bath.

The former Tiverton striker checked back and picked out the supporting run of Koszela who finished with aplomb 12 yards out for his and Dorchester’s second.

Sam Bayston was denied by Gunstone-Gray at close quarters and Oakley Hanger bent an attempt wide of the far post as Dorchester looked to extend their lead.

Instead, Christchurch equalised for a second time as a potent counter culminated in Ohameje receiving possession in acres of space on the right of the box, burying a high finish past keeper Jon Ross.

Koszela again worked a chance of his own making only to find the gloves of Gunstone-Gray, before ex-Magpie Ash Pope slammed a free-kick into the wall.

After half-time, Christchurch resumed with greater intensity as the visitors’ sub striker dragged wide from 20 yards and rifled at the legs of Ross in a separate chance.

Ten minutes after the restart, Dorchester were down to 10 men as Koszela was adjudged to have raked his studs down the back of Ben Satterley's ankle and saw red.

The challenge would force Satterley to be carried off by a team-mate and the midfielder hobbled off to hospital to check for serious damage.

Back on the pitch, Billy Lowes came on for Harry Burns as Dorchester boss Robbie Herrera adjusted to the numerical disadvantage and the midfielder was instantly involved.

Hanger raided down the right and picked out Lowes who shifted the ball onto his preferred left foot and drilled low and hard at goal, Gunstone-Gray getting down sharply at full stretch to keep his shot at bay.

Hanger wasted a good volleyed chance soon afterwards following Tiago Sa’s cross, shanking his effort horribly wide.

Herrera made another three changes to freshen their legs and one of whom, Jack Torniainen, bent in a looping cross which was just too high for Bath.

The right-back then exchanged passes with sub Leighton Thomas via a well-executed backheel but could only lash wide.

Christchurch nearly added a third but Wilcock delayed his shot in the area and sliced wide from 12 yards.

Ross was worked into a flying stop to deny a dipping drive but after clearing the corner Dorchester sealed victory as Watts was tripped and stepped up to place a low free-kick underneath the wall and into the far corner.
