DARLINGTON have suffered a Covid-19 scare ahead of their FA Trophy fourth round tie at Weymouth.

The Quakers, like the Terras, had no game last weekend and one player contracted the virus “away from the club”.

It means Saturday’s fixture will still go ahead as planned, with no other Darlington squad members in contact with the afflicted player.

In a statement, Darlington said: “One of our first-team players has tested positive for Covid-19 and so therefore in accordance with the relevant PHE and National League protocols, he has now gone into self-isolation until 21st January.

“He contracted these symptoms away from the club last weekend when we didn’t have a game, and has not been in physical contact with any of the other first-team players or management since then.

“Therefore, as far as playing matches are concerned, we are still able to fulfil our fixtures.

“We would like to wish the player concerned a speedy recovery.”
