Weymouth sign Aston Villa player who made debut against Liverpool

Villa attracted interest from several League clubs for Revan's services, but Terras' boss Brian Stock has beaten them all to secure an impressive deal.

Key to the deal has been Weymouth's ability to tap into Stock's large network of more northerly contacts.

It comes following the club's agreement to begin using accommodation for players based further afield.

Prior to making his debut - captaining Villa in the 4-1 FA Cup loss to Liverpool - Revan had made the first-team bench on seven occasions.

Revan could make his debut in the FA Trophy fourth-round tie against Darlington tomorrow (3pm).

Speaking on the capture of Revan, 20, Stock expressed his excitement at luring a player of his stature to the Bob Lucas Stadium.

He told Echosport: "We spoke to Aston Villa and I watched the game against Liverpool.

"The centre-half that played was Dominic – very strong, athletic, quick.

"He was captain and he's come up against some world-class players in (Sadio) Mane and (Mohamed) Salah and (Roberto) Firmino and he was excellent.

"He's a player that will be coming in on loan with a view to start.

"He's been training with the (Villa) first-team for quite some time and he was training with them (yesterday).

"He's going to make his way down ready for the game.

"He's been in contact with the first-team for probably two years now."

Stock added: "He's not the tallest but he's mobile, strong and there are a lot of things I like about him.

"He's an organiser, he's got a fantastic attitude.

"When I look at the game against Liverpool and the way he commands his defence, squeezes and shuffles across, he's an out and out defender.

"For Weymouth to attract a signing like that speaks volumes of where the club's trying to get to.

"We are in a situation where to attract a player like Dom – and fight of competition from a number of other clubs in the League – speaks volumes of where we're trying to head to."
