WEYMOUTH have added former Crystal Palace defender Jacob Mensah to their ranks on a permanent deal.

Mensah, 20, also has experience with Ramsgate having made over 60 appearances for the Rams.

Mensah joins after Weymouth secured the huge signing of Aston Villa defender Dominic Revan on loan.

The Ghanaian centre-back, standing at over six-foot tall, was in 2019 named one of the most promising non-League players by the respected Non-League Paper.

Speaking to Echosport after capturing Mensah, Weymouth boss Brian Stock highlighted the defender's hard-working attitude.

He said: "We're delighted to sign Jacob, he's a player that had a number of clubs trying to buy him a couple of years ago.

"He's experienced non-League football at Ramsgate and he's only young but he's got a lot of attributes that we really like.

"His attitude, when it comes to trials, I don't really remember many better.

"He came in, he trained hard, he was running afterwards. Straight away, I thought: 'This boy wants it'.

"When you put everything into the mix, potentially, he's got a very, very good career ahead of him.

"Some of the things that are a downfall for players, especially these days, is the (lack of) attitude and mentality, but he has that in abundance.

"He's signed permanently to the end of the season. One of the big things the club have committed to is the accommodation.

"It means we can cast our net further afield and bring in the likes of Jacob."
