WEYMOUTH have signed former Barcelona youth player Joan Luque.

Striker Andrew Dallas has also joined on loan from Sky Bet League Two leaders Cambridge United.

Pacy winger Luque spent two years with the Catalan giants before leaving aged 13 in 2004, and joins Weymouth after a spell with Maidstone United.

Luque, 28, provides the Terras with much needed creativity in attack, having already scored five goals for the Stones this season.

Former Dagenham, Heybridge and Concord man Luque’s latest goal came in a 2-1 win over Dorking in the FA Trophy last Saturday.

The Spaniard joins after Weymouth put in a seven-day approach for the wide man, who has played one game for League Two side Lincoln.

Speaking to Echosport, Weymouth boss Brian Stock said: “He travelled down Tuesday night after Maidstone gave clearance for him to join us.

“They’ve conducted themselves very, very well as a club and allowed the player to travel and to be in contention to play this weekend.

“He’s a player that has a lot of creativity, scores goals, creates goals and has a real composure about his game.

“With the education he’s had and the background, the type of footballer he is, he fits the mould of what I want a Weymouth player to look like.”

Luque adds to Weymouth's options on the wing, with Sean Shields, Alefe Santos and Jack Hoey providing competition for places.

Luque and Dallas arrive at Weymouth amid uncertainty surrounding the National League season, with the North and South divisions suspended for two weeks.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Dallas is an ex-Rangers youngster and counts Stenhousemuir and Greenock Morton among his former clubs.

Dallas has been out of favour at Cambridge this season.

League Two's leading scorer Paul Mullin (18) and Joe Ironside (9) have scored a combined 27 goals between them at United.

Dallas has scored twice in 23 league games for the Abbey Stadium outfit.

He bolsters a Weymouth attack alongside incumbent forwards Josh McQuoid, Ben Thomson and Cody Cooke.
